    Osteoarthritis joint nodules hydroxychloroquine

I know I had never heard of it until my rheumatologist said that is what I have...along w/osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. My blood tests are negative for RF but my CRP test was above normal. Ai Yi Yi Plaquenil reduces inflammation in many Rheumatic disorders, the mode of action is pretty complicated though so I shan't bore you with all the details, but basically it prevents your dendritic cells (these are messengers for your immune system, if you will) from interacting with your T-Cells (a special type of white blood cell which through a convoluted and boring process, causes inflammation when an infection is found, and these basically malfunction with inflammatory disorders). So, he started me on 400 mg of Plaquenil a day and he just upped it to 600 mg a day. As I said previously, my Rheumatologist now says it is inflammatory osteoarthrits. Why am I taking Plaquenil, which does help tremedously BTW, if I don't have RA or Lupus. This "dendritic deactivation" (I made that phrase up) helps reduce your immune system being silly and inflaming your joints.

Joint pain is a very common complaint in lupus and may lead to difficulty with one’s usual daily activities. A rheumatologist will try to determine the origin of pain, whether it is in the joint lining which is true arthritis, the soft tissues around the joint due to problems with tendons or ligaments, or the bones.

My sister was dx'd with Inflammatory Arthritis and Plaquenil sent her into remission some years ago now. I also take meds for high bp, asthma and high cholesterol.
