Septra can address Bartonella and makes Mepron more effective Treatment combos •Doxy + Rifampin •Telithromycin •Quinolones + tetracyclines doxy, mino, tigecycline or macrolides. Give IV or IM magnesium to reduce negative reactions of tendonitis. •Septra/Bactrim + macrolides •Usually take 200mg BID Plaquenil in addition This antibiotic is generally considered to be the antibiotic of choice for the treatment of Bartonella/BLO. Levaquin is a member of the family of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones, which also includes ciprofloxacin Cipro. All the fluoroquinolones seem to have activity against Bartonella/BLO, but Levaquin seems to be the most effective. Although Bactrim is a very effective drug, it can also be very dangerous, with possibly fatal reactions. Most doctors don't know this. When using Bactrim for treating Lyme, it can be extremely difficult to tell the difference between a herx reaction and a potentially life-threatening adverse drug reaction.

Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Take Biaxin XL for the full prescribed length of time.

  3. I heard many good feedbacks about Bactrim and really considered adding it to my sons combine abx. However, I found out that people who have MTHFR mutation cannot take Bactrim. My DS was tested heterozygous for MTHFR C677T and negative for A1298C, which may effect folate metabolism to 35%. Just wo.

Re Biaxin / Bartonella hi. this is really late, but for some reason this thread just popped onto my radar. Levaquin worked wonders for me too! i took it with the biaxin and plaquenil. i never felt better! i will admit all the drug combos since then have not been nearly as effective. we're going after the babesiosis in me right now with mepron. Biaxin, Biaxin XL Clarithromycin may treat, side effects, dosage, drug interactions, warnings, patient labeling, reviews, and related medications including drug comparison and health resources. Anyhow, I was taking Cipro and just didn't like the side effects of increasing achy tendons and muscles, being wiped out, and the fear of tendonitis which I've already had even w/o taking Cipro. So I want to try the Biaxin/Plaquenil. or Rifampin and either one I would be taking w/ Doxy.
